MyFriendsHotel – Overview
We are an interest-based accommodation network and The Sunday Times says we’re “One to Watch”. It’s free to join and members can list and rent out anything from a sofa-bed to a luxury villa with a private beach.
The site considers the 3 personalities involved: the Host, the Guest and the Property Our unique ‘tagging’ system means it’s easy to link the right property with the right Guest – it’s a bit like ‘dating for accommodation’!
Hosts can make some extra money from their spare space, while Guests save money on hotel costs and get a trusted local travel experience. Our site is safe, trusted and reliable, providing a unique and secure payment system to protect both Host and Guest. Genuine reviews are provided by members who have booked through the site. You can search for accommodation by Tags, plus Guests and Hosts communicate with each other directly onsite.
About the Team
Peter Kindness, Founder (aka, ‘His Nibs’)
Born in Hong Kong, Pete has been fortunate enough to live in 8 different countries: Hong Kong (five times), Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Scotland, England, France and Spain. Pete loves to travel and enjoys being a foreigner and questioning the world around him. ’There’s no greater sense of being alive than when exploring new places or seeing your own back yard with a fresh pair of eyes. I am passionate about nature, culture and this thing called life! I have put my heart and soul into building MyFriendsHotel and I’ve learnt a lot along the way. It’s been an interesting journey and it’s taken a lot of effort, determination and bloody-mindedness to get this far’.
Educated at Nottingham Trent, Pete studied European Business with French. His career has included working in Paris a Business Development Director in the Music / Video industry. He later came back to the UK where he ran his own Digital Media company, and he’s also spent 7 years working for Freemantle Media as a DVD Producer / Product Development Manager. Now he spends his time on MyFriendsHotel.com. It’s hard work, but it’s not ‘work’.
Jo, All-Rounder (aka, ‘General dogs body, sales and marketing guru-ette, very important customer relations person and joke-cracker’. Did I mention skivvy?)
Jo is a seasoned traveller who knows most of Europe inside-out. She’s also lived on a Greek Island and knows the value of staying with locals. She’s also worked in media sales and as an International Media Planner and Buyer.
What’s more, she’s dogged, like a little Jack Russel, which is perfect for getting things done!

How MyFriendsHotel came to be
Peter founded MyFriendsHotel.com in March 2008 after a ski trip to a friend’s apartment in Les Arcs showed him the kindness of strangers. A girl he’d never met before had overheard his distress at missing the last train to Bourg-Saint-Maurice and approached him offering him a place to stay. That, compounded with the fact that no one knew about his friends’ fantastic ski apartment, prompted him to set up a website which allowed his friends and peers to advertise their ‘space’ to other friends with shared interests.
