WHERE DO I START?
Free Membership – is that true?
Yes!
What is a Guest?
A Guest is someone who books an accommodation to rent – be it a spare room or a villa. A Host is the person who’s accommodation they will stay in.
1. Save money on your accommodation costs
2. Stay with local people and benefit from local knowledge
3. Stay with like-minded people or find suitable accommodation through:
- your interests
- the accommodation activities – ie: is it good for fishing, climbing, surfing
- Groups that you ‘join’ or that you set-up
4. Find Trusted accommodation through friends, friends of friends and Guestbook feedback
5. Create Groups to find like-minded Hosts
6. Communicate freely with Hosts and other members
7. Paying MyFriendsHotel.com directly, rather than Hosts, increases security and prevents fraud
8. Meet adventurous like-minded people
9. Travel more!
How does it work?
If you’re a Host…

  1. List your property and add your profile in minutes
  2. Guests will email a booking request – simply accept / decline based on their profile
  3. Receive your payment within 24 hours of your Guest arriving / collecting keys

Or, if you’re a Guest…

  1. Search for a property (private property or a room in Hosts home), anywhere in the world
  2. Send your Host a quick booking request
  3. Once accepted to stay, payment is held securely until you safely arrive at your accommodation / collect keys

Hosts register their accommodation details on the site. Guests find accommodation by location, interests, or ‘tags’ such as ‘Hiking’, ‘Villa’, ‘Pool’. Guests can contact Hosts directly on the website to make and confirm bookings, and payment is made securely online using PayPal or a credit card. (PayPal is internationally recognised and it protects Guests against fraud). Once payment is confirmed the booking details are provided to both parties. That’s it – roll on good times! For further details read our Help section or contact our customer support team.

How do I write a GREAT profile?
That’s a popular question and an important one. If you don’t take a little time to complete your profile then Hosts might not be so keen to welcome you into their home. The more interests you add and the more groups you join, the greater the chance you have of finding Host with the most suitable properties for you to stay in! So, it’s important to write a GREAT Profile.  Here’s how to do that in 5 simple steps!
How do I search for a room?
Simple. On every page there is a ‘Search’ button, just type in the search term you are looking for. You can also search for a Host by interest.
Is there a booking fee?
Yes – the only time you will be charged is when you book a room on the site. The booking fee is a nominal £3 | $4| $5 dependent on the currency you are paying in and does not change.
House Rules?
You are renting a private space. To ensure everyone is clear and nobody’s feelings are hurt it’s prudent to check with your Host that there are no unexpected rules that might spoil your experience – such as lights out at 10pm or no pets allowed. Just check before you book so there are no surprises!
Can I contact a Host?
Absolutely. We recommend that you and your Host are fully comfortable with the arrangements and with each other. Communication is central to a happy stay!
